Being part of the Maples Academy elite dance team is a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun!
What began as a small team of about 10 dancers in 2011, has grown to as many as 50 dancers in some years. Members of the elite dance team earn opportunities to compete locally and abroad, in solo, duo, trio, and group dances each year. Selections for the elite performance dance team are based on technical proficiency, drive, and dedication to the art of dance.
Over the years, the team has garnered recognition both at home and in the USA, winning judge’s choice, top score, and choreography awards at multiple competitions. This is a testament to the amazing work of both the dancers on the team and the teachers who guide them along the way.
Commitment to both individual and team training are key to the success of the team. Elite team dancers, and their supportive families, put in countless extra hours, with an added financial commitment, in order to get the best training and performance opportunities possible.
Beyond the competitive opportunities, dancers on the elite team learn team work, time management, and accountability, while gaining confidence, growing friendships, and experiencing a sense of pride for themselves and the studio they represent.
